“Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can’t see.”
— Allsburg, C. V. (1985). The Polar Express. Boston: Houghton Mifflin.
If the real things in the world can’t be seen, then the Christmas spirit at Weatherly Inn is alive and well. Just after Thanksgiving, residents, staff, and family members began noticing a change at Weatherly Inn: the harvest decor transformed into a winter wonderland, thanks to staging by David Colegrove, Weatherly Inn decorator, and proprietor of Key Antiques, Lakewood, WA. David brought the magic of the Christmas season to life, creating an atmosphere of home, wonder for visitors young and young at heart helping to create some Christmas Magic at Weatherly Inn.
In addition to the decor, the Weatherly hosts showstopping holiday events that thrill. Weatherly Inn-Tacoma hosted it’s second annual White Christmas Market with great fanfare. Thirty vendors including Ms. Pickles, Johnson Candy Company,
Sugar Rush Cupcakes, and more helped everyone check off items from their Christmas gift lists. Children were delighted by pictures with Santa Claus and even his live Reindeer! Shoppers were entertained by Chris Anderson crooning Christmas songs on the main stage. And despite a snowy weather forecast, folks came in droves. All in all, it was a magical Christmas evening to remember.

At Weatherly Inn-Kent, the main street was decked with Christmas spirit for a holiday evening featuring Dickens Christmas carolers. One afternoon, family and friends gathered around a holiday feast to share the joys of the season.
Additionally, this year the owner families compiled their favorite Christmas cookie recipes into a holiday cookbook along with their season’s greetings. The recipes include Rum Cake, Chocolate Shortbread Hearts, Snowballs, Buckeyes, and more. Click here to download these recipes. Of course, you can enjoy these cookies with the all new Weatherly Blend coffee. Partnering with Covabrelli Coffee, Tumwater, WA, Weatherly Inn developed a proprietary blend of organic, free-trade coffee featuring beans from Bolivia, Guatemala, and Costa Rica.
During the Christmas season at Weatherly Inn, we take advantage of every opportunity to celebrate family connections and create opportunities for holiday memories. While Christmastime comes just once a year, we carefully cultivate home and family every day of the year. In the words of Bob Hope, “My idea of Christmas, whether old-fashioned or modern, is very simple: loving others. Come to think of it, why do we have to wait until
Christmas to do that?”
From the entire Weatherly Inn family, we wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with peace and joy.
